The Honorable Franklin S. Van Antwerpen's Early Connection With Legal Aid
Posted on September 27, 2016
Recently, Federal Judge Franklin S. Van Antwerpen, who presided over many high-profile cases during his years on the bench passed away. His family directed that all donations in the Judge's memory be sent to North Penn Legal Services. The board and staff at NPLS are honored to be the recipient of Judge Van Antwerpen's friends and colleagues generosity. His connection to legal aid started very early on in his carreer - just three years upon graduating from Temple Law School he left a corporate law job to become chief counsel for Northampton County Legal Aid Society in Easton. For the next few years Judge Van Antwerpen helped the working poor solve their civil legal issues. Today, Northampton County Legal Aid Society is known as North Penn Legal Services as we serve a geographic area comprised of 20 Northeast PA counties.
