Emotional Support Animals...More Than Just a Pet

Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) to Reopen November 2

The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program, also known as LIHEAP, helps low-income families pay their heating bills. LIHEAP is a grant that offers assistance in the form of a cash grant, sent directly to the utility company, or a crisis grant for households in immediate danger of being without heat.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month

Purple ribbons, t-shirts, and banners are a frequent sight this month because October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The color purple is used to symbolize the strength and courage of the survivors and victims of domestic violence.

One of the keys to combatting Domestic Violence is awareness. Throughout October a number of vigils will be held and programs offered to bring light to this prevalent issue nationwide.

NPLS Announces New Board Members and Officers

A new set of officers was elected to NPLS’ Board of Directors effective October 22, 2015.  Elizabeth Burton, Esq. replaces outgoing Board President Edward Hoffman, Jr., Esq., who completed two years as President.  In addition to Elizabeth's role of NPLS Board President, she also serves on our fundraising committee.  D. Toni Byrd, Esq. will serve as Vice President.  Client board member, Clara Smith was elected as Board Secretary and Frances Gruber, Esq.  will serve as Treasurer.
